She was merely 5 years old when both her parents got divorced. She was not the only one in her family but was brought up along with other three siblings. Chavez was the eldest one of all her siblings.

Her mother who belonged to New York met her father who belonged to Oaxaca, Mexico. They returned to their home after separation and her mother completely gave the custody of all of her children to the father. Nayeli has often seen her parents separated and even when she was in elementary school, she was once told by her classmates that her father was waiting for her outside the school.

Nayeli Chavez-Geller started living on her own when she was 17 years old. Her father often used to travel to the village where he was born along with all of his children. Geller was brought up in the teachings of her grandmother who lived in the village at that time. She describes herself as grounded and a woman who was raised with the ethics of her father, mother, and grandmother.

Her father was responsible for instilling in her values and morals. Her father individually used to tell her that you must fight for the things that disturb you or come in your path for success.
