The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that fans are being introduced to all sorts of characters who they know nothing about as flashbacks predominate the airwaves. One such character is Avery Bailey Clark. Who is this lovely lass that was once upon a time living large in Genoa City? Avery arrived to town to represent Sharon Newman Sharon Case in a murder case.

Avery Bailey Clark is a fictional character from the American CBS Daytime soap opera, The Young and the Restless, portrayed by actress Jessica Collins.

As you might imagine, her relationship with Phyllis was full of fireworks, and along the way she not only did legal work, but was an aspiring chef who wanted her own cooking show. Avery was a high-profile lawyer famous for defending the wrongly accused but not so much of a shark as she was a compassionate public defender type. They were estranged because Avery resented Phyllis leaving their chaotic home while she had to stay.

Their dying father George Summers Ken Howard was introduced at one point and Phyllis wanted nothing to do with him. Although the sisters were close growing up, Phyllis busted the family up and Avery never forgave her. It seems that their dad was cheating people out of their life savings and when she found out she turned him in, something Avery never forgave.

Eventually she told him about her ex, Dylan, who she believed died during the war in Afghanistan. Guess what? Dylan was alive and not so well, struggling with PTSD. Steve Burton debuted as Dylan McAvoy in He wanted to see Avery but was not ready to face her. Nick and Avery eventually were engaged and Dylan went on to form a relationship with Sharon.
